SCS/HB 498 - This act authorizes any city operating under a city manager form of government to submit to voters the question of continuing the city manager form of government by acquiring the signatures of 25 percent of voters of the votes cast in the last gubernatorial election on a petition for such a question. The petition must also include the age and address of each signing voter. If approved by the voters, the change of form or organization shall not become effective until the next municipal election.

Currently, cities must acquire the signatures of not less than 10 percent of voters on a petition before such a ballot question may be submitted to voters.
